The 1st regional investment night
The First regional investment night, organized by Serbian Business Angels Network, was held on July 1st 2011. About 50 participants: investors, members of Business Angel Networks of Serbia, Croatia, Italy, owners of small and medium-size enterprises, well-known entrepreneurs, consultants, representatives of international organizations and investment funds participated on the event. All participants received a brochure with description of SBAN activities and one-pagers of the projects that were presented that night.
The program started with three keynote presentations held by following speakers:
- Andrea di Anselmo, a Vice president of Meta Group, a board member of the fund management firm INGENIUM, and a member of the Italian Business Angel Network, is a frequent speaker on topics such as entrepreneurship, equity investments in start-up companies and risk capital in general.
- Bernard Braunegger, former director of SAP Arabia, who is an expert in launching and distribution of new products to the markets of developing countries and international business in general, has spoken about diverse sales models for start-ups and global market penetration.
- Mirna Marovic, the president of Venture Exchange organization from Croatia, University professor and representative of a several private equity funds has talked about equity type of financing, case studies of successful investments in the region of Southeastern Europe with special accent to ambitions and plans of those funds in regional market, especially in Serbia and Croatia.
After introductory presentations of guests speakers, all participants had the opportunity to attend the presentations of 6 investments projects (4 from Serbia and 2 from Croatia). Three of them were from IT sector, one from renewable energy production and one from entertainment sector.
After the presentations, the mentoring and networking session among investors and entrepreneurs had taken place through a quick “panel discussions” with the goal to discuss all aspects of presented business projects.
Finally, pleasant evening was complemented with cocktail, where all guests had opportunity not only to meet each other but to make some new business contacts. This investment night is just one of various events that Serbian Business Angels Network is planning to organize in the future. For 2011, SBAN plans to organize one more investment evening as well as to open new investment cycle.
